The First Try
Well it’s officially on. It’s in black and white. There’s no turning back. I’ve got it in ink. And other such tiresome puns.
My first new thing: I got a tattoo. Specifically, one of the numbers “365″ to indicate the year I have ahead of me. This might seem like small potatoes to many people who have tattooed their torsos with their favorite disney characters and/or uncles. But I am of the frail, wussy variety - fearful of needles, or anything even rhyming with needles (Begone, wheedles!). Even in my wild, impetuous teens I swore to a friend I’d never get a tattoo.
But this is the sort of project that I could so easily abandon. And knowing my proclivity to take the easy way out, I have some built-in failsafes. One is this website, which will shower me with angry mail from friends and family if I even think of skipping a day. Another is the fact that now, my right shoulder bears the mark of the promise I’ve made to myself. To have an All New Year. And the party tonight is still to come…
Enjoy the video and my voluptuous man-tits.

Hey kiddo, love the tattoo (excellent font & interesting arrangement) but do you realize that it is 366 days until your next birthday? 2008 is a leap year!

Whoa. You understand that Constantine is someone you’re going to have to return to for pearls of wisdom periodically throughout your journey, right? I mean, he said “now your journey begins” and he had that kickass scar.
Maybe you can return to him at the end of the project to get some other tattoo that signifies completion.
and in the meantime call him a lot and ask him for advice.

You’re marked now. Next thing you know you’ll be waking up next to Courtney Love. Hey… that would be an interesting new thing to do!
Seriously though, looks great!

Woah, Opus! I’m freaking out! Holy flying symbolism! And literalism, I guess, since it’s a tatto now!
And woah, Mom! You’re supposed to keep quiet on the technicalities. IT’S A TATTOO!

Your tattoo looks great. I loved seeing people’s faces when you revealed it at the party.
It’s so awesome that your mom figured out the leap year thing. FYI, we are totally doing something HUGE on Feb. 29, 2008.
And Zabs is totally right about Constantine. As Constantine the Great was the first Christian emperor, Constantine the Tattooist is the first emperor of All!New!Year! Perfect.

My vote is for a “+1″ tattoo next to the original, inked on Feb. 29th, 2008. But it would have to be tattoed on you by your mother…
